He is going, and going, and has gone.

As I mentioned back in this post, I had some plans for 2026.

So far it’s working.

In the last few months I’ve written:

  • “Hopelessness Bear”
  • “325 Degrees”
  • “Distressed Jeans”
  • “Peace of Mind”
  • “Mandalay Bay”
  • “The Feed”
  • “~> tree”
  • “par cœur”
  • Super Unicorn Encounter 3, 4 and 5
  • “Providence”
  • “k”
  • “Shibboleth”
  • “Cherry, Cherry, Cherry”
  • “1:87”

I often read about people that have a line just come to them which they build a poem around. I’ve tried that but I tend to have ideas I work around instead of specific lines.

Here’s some examples from one of my notebooks.

Some of these are pretty good. Like:

love doesn’t really arrive
it plows into you
airbags deploy
and suddenly you need a rental

You can see I was playing with this idea.

  • Love rearends you while you’re at the light eating fries.
  • Love has a demo version. (Note: not a totally original idea: Kissogram has a song from the excellent Output64 album:
    “My Love’s A Demo Version”

It eventually became this:

Troop D Crash Report

Love
failed to maintain safe distance

You can also see some German on the left page from a German language class I was taking.

I have entire notebooks of phrases like “wearing a t-shirt with your own picture on it”.

Those are the sorts of things that I’m writing down at 4am.

As always, endless gratitude for whatever is allowing me to keep generating ideas like this.
